ALTERNATIVE MASTER SERVERS

This page will contain the current list of alternative Master Servers. As many of you may know, this Master Server goes to sleep around 11:30pm so after those times you may want to seek an alternative Master Server. Please don’t confuse a Master Server with a C2O Server. A C2O server hosts a game, a Master Server maintains the server list, anti-cheat definitions, crush files and any other critical data that C2O must download each time it is run.
In order to use an alternative Master Server, you must change the MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS option within your C2O_CONFIG.TXT. For example, your C2O_CONIG.TXT at the moment may have the option set as follows:
MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS http://carmageddon.kicks-ass.net/mom/
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must always place an ending slash at the end of the address!
You can write multiple MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS options into your C2O_CONFIG.TXT to make it easy to switch between alternative Master Servers. Just make sure that you add a random character to the beginning of the lines you wish to temporarily disable. For example:
MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS http://carmageddon.kicks-ass.net/mom/
_MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS http://c2o.jjunkies.com/
In the above example, i have chosen to use carmageddon.kicks-ass.net as my Master Server - the other address is disabled. All you need to do is switch the address around if you wish to change the Master Server address, for example:
_MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS http://carmageddon.kicks-ass.net/mom/
MASTER_SERVER_ADDRESS http://c2o.jjunkies.com/
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are running Core Update #3 your C2O Server may report a problem whilst retrieving your Ip Address (using an alternative Master Server). This is a small bug which will be addressed in a CoreRepack later today (2nd Feb 2008).
